Origin Notes and History:

"Sinclair Lake (not Long Lake)" adopted in the 18th Report of the Geographic Board of Canada, 31 March 1924; an expansion of Whitesail River. This discrete lake and river portion were flooded behind the Kenney Dam, and both were renamed Whitesail Reach 1 March 1956 on 93E.

Sinclair Lake was named by Fr. A.G. Morice, and so-labelled on his 1907 map, although the lake was well-known to residents around the Ootsa Lake settlement as "Long Lake" (Ottawa file OBF0662).
