Origin Notes and History:
Whitesail River adopted in the 18th Report of the Geographic Board of Canada, 31 March 1924, as submitted November 1921 by Frank Swannell, BCLS. Confirmed 11 January 1952. Name changed to Whitesail Reach 1 March 1956 on 93E, following creation of Nechako Reservoir behind the Kenney Dam.

Formerly Whitesail River, Whitesail Lake and Sinclair Lake; both lakes and the 8-mile long connecting river channel were submerged c1954 under Nechako Reservoir.
