Origin Notes and History:

Ladysmith Bog Ecological Reserve established per Order in Council # 592, 30 April 1996, containing 141 hectares more or less. Name changed to Yellow Point Bog Ecological Reserve per Bill 50:2004, Parks and Protected Areas Statutes Amendment Act, 17 May 2004; the whole containing approximately 138 hectares.

ER # 139. Purpose for establishing this reserve: To protect a highly diverse mosaic of ecosystem types from aquatic, peat bog and forest to dry-site ecosystems. Ecological Reserves are areas in British Columbia selected to preserve representative and special natural ecosystems, plant and animal species, features, and phenomena. Ecological Reserves provide the highest level of protection for the maintenance of physical and biological diversity while allowing for research and educational activities.
