After John Chesterman, longtime resident. "John Chesterman...arrived [at Tofino] soon after the turn of the century. Chesterman farmed, where the airport now stands (at Long Beach), and later coxswain'd the lifeboat. Chesterman's Beach [sic].... close to the township, was named after him."
