Sganisim is a derivation of sganist (mountain) meaning "mountain of"; Gin is a derivation of Gwin meaning "place of"; Sgox means "to transport goods and/or people by canoe or boat, a load at a time", hence Mountain of Ginsgox. The whole territory is generally referred to as Ginsgox.
