Origin Notes and History:

Both Wapta Glacier and Yoho Glacier were adopted for the same feature in the 18th Report of the Geographic Board of Canada, 31 March 1924. The name "Wapta Glacier" was rescinded 8 October 1964 on 82N, while Yoho Glacier was retained as the official name. "Wapta" is Stony Indian for "river".
