Origin Notes and History:

Adopted 31 March 1924 on 82N/10 as listed in 1910, 1911, 1912, 1913, 1914, and 1915 Gazetteers and on the Interprovincial Boundary Commission Sheet 16 (date not cited). Likely named in associatin with Yoho River, Pass, Lake, and Peak. May have previously been labeled as Collie Glacier. In the 1924 Gazetteer Yoho Glacier and Wapta Glacier were adopted for the same feature. Wapta Glacier was rescineded 8 October 1964, "Yoho Glacier" was retained as the name.

According to information from C.A.J., 1931, "The Yoho Glacier, originally known as Wapta Glacier, is the largest southern outflow from the Wapta Icefield, and is the initial source of the Yoho River".
