Boss Mountain adopted in the 1930 BC Gazetteer, in association with Boss Triangulation Station here. Name changed to "Takomkane Mountain" 1 September 1960 on 93A, the local name according to 1957 advice from R.D. McCaw, BCLS, and as labelled on his 1936 map 93A/2, and on BC map 3G, 1949 & 1957. Further changed to Big Timothy Mountain 2 March 1961 on 93A, to reflect entrenched and preferred local usage. In order to retain the historic name "Boss" that name was applied to a mountain about 12 miles northeast, adjacent to Church Triangulation Station, as labelled on R.D. McCaw's 1936 map 93A/2, file B.1.37: "Boss Mtn was applied to a peak...in order to retain it."
