Origin Notes and History:

Fairy Falls adopted in the 1930 BC Gazetteer, as submitted 1928 by A.J. Campbell, BCLS, for BC map 5B (file B.1.28); confirmed 4 August 1955 on C.3435. Name changed to Granite Falls 29 October 1982 on 92 G/7 as recommended by Hydrographic Service, being the old, well-established local name (file H.1.29 pt.2).

The original names (Granite Creek/Granite Falls) refer to a granite quarry located at the mouth of this creek cWW I; presumably the late 1920's change was suggested to avoid confusion with numerous other "Granite" features, later overturned in favour of local usage.
