Cheẑich'ed Biny is a Tŝilhqot’in name meaning 'lake at Cheẑich’ed.' "Cheẑich’ed" is the origin of the anglicized name "Chezacut" (community) as well as "Chezakut Lake", a previous name for the lake. The name is a proper noun and has been in use for so long that a direct translation to English is difficult but may roughly translate as 'lake at the place where there is down feathers' (Advice from Tŝilhqot'in National Government, 2018).
