Origin Notes and History:

Emerald Ridge adopted 31 December 1973 in the 1973 Cumulative Supplement to the 1966 BC Gazetteer, as agreed by British Columbia 13 March 1972; not "Avalanche Ridge" as identified on earlier maps. Re-approved 30 January 1980 on 83D/15; the name is applied to the ridgeline, not the entire massif.
