Origin Notes and History:

Lihumitson Creek adopted 6 October 1936 on Geological Survey sheet 422A, Hope, as labelled on BC Lands' map 2B, 1914; not Layomesin Creek as spelled on International Boundary sheet 4, 1913, nor Lihumption Creek as spelled on Geological Survey map 80A, Geology of the 49th Parallel, 1913. Spelling changed to Liumchen Creek 7 April 1955 on 92H/SW, being the established local spelling. Liumchen Creek confirmed 10 May 1955.

This stream is mis-labelled "Sweltzer River" on Jorgensen's 1895 map of British Columbia (a name since applied to the watercourse that drains Cultus Lake, just west of here).
