Origin Notes and History:

Adopted 3 March 1960 on 82J, applied to the lake northwest of Nub Peak at 50°56' x 115°41' as identified on small scale map submitted in November 1959 by National Parks Branch (file K.2.59). Coordinates adjusted 12 October 1966 on 82J/13 to the correct location, as well-known and used locally (letter December 1965, file P.3.51)

After Miss Elizabeth Rummel, who operates a small tent camp and concession on Sunburst Lake 1947 - (May 1967 letter, file P.3.51)

Namesake is Elizabeth "Lizzie" Rummel (1895-1980), who operated a summer tent camp here from 1951 to 1970. Jack Crossley, of the Skyline Hikers, says his group suggested the name to Parks Canada staff (April 1992 letter, file P.3.51)
