Named by Mike King, who had explored Buttle Lake by canoe prior to 1900, after Myra Cliffe, then-6 year old daughter of Comox pioneer Samuel Cliffe. [note proximity of Myra Creek and Myra Falls, tributary to Buttle Lake, named in 1910 by Price Ellison after his daughter Myra.]
