"Hayes Creek (not Five Mile Creek)" adopted in the 18th Report of the Geographic Board of Canada, 31 March 1924, as labelled on BC map 1EM, 1915. Re-approved 2 December 1948 on Columbia River Basin manuscript #73, and 15 October 1969 on 92H/9. Origin/significance not recorded.
