Boundary Historical Society advises that the early name of this creek flowing past Deadwood Townsite was "Motherlode Creek", and that the name "Motherlode" has since been mis-applied to the creek originally called Copper Creek, ie. the main creek flowing from Copper Camp/Copper Mountain into Boundary Creek. (January 1993 letter from Boundary Historical Society, file G.1.57)
