Eagle Island is the long-established local name. Change to Abode Island recommended by H.D. Parizeau, Hydrographic Service, to avoid confusion with 5 other Eagle Islands south of Queen Charlotte Sound, as there were numerous cottages on these islands. However, there was some protest and the original name was reinstated.
