Named c1928 after Basil S. Darling, Victoria; retired Bank of Montreal accountant and alpinist. Born at Toronto 1885; came to Vancouver 1908; a pioneer alpinist in the Vancouver and Hose Sound regions; relocated to Toronto 1916; relocated to Victoria 1926.
