Only the northern entrance of Mayne Passage is shown and named on early British Admiralty Charts. The notation on the BC name card: "Locally known as Blind Channel. See BC Pilot." has been carefully crossed out, without further explanation. Perhaps originally so-noted in association with Blind Channel Post Office, in turn named and opened in 1917 before the passage had been completely surveyed and charted.
