"ʔEdibiny" is the Tŝilhqot’in for this lake and is a proper noun. The name may translate to 'lake above' referring to this lake being above Naghatalhchuẑ (Choelquoit Lake). A second interpretation is 'antler lake' - "ʔedi" meaning 'antler' and "biny" meaning 'lake' (Advice from Tŝilhqot’in National Government, 2018).
