Tsalhanqox is the Tŝilhqot’in name for this creek meaning 'river of many beavers' - "Tsa" (beaver), "lhan" (many), "yeqox" (creek/river). 'Chilanko' [former official name] is an anglicization of this name (Advice from Tŝilhqot’in National Government, 2018).
