Origin Notes and History:

"Nen Nalmelh" is the Tŝilhqot’in name meaning 'undulating/rolling/wavy land' which refers to the view of this mountain from a distance to the south or north where can be seen three or four undulating rounded summits in a row (Advice from Tŝilhqot'in National Government, 2018).

Some Tŝilhqot’in refer to this mountain as "Tŝitl’uy" - which in Tŝilhqot’in language may mean 'the back of the head' - which may refer to the head-shaped undulating rounded summits of the mountain including Durrell Butte (Advice from Tŝilhqot'in National Government, 2018).

Some Tŝilhqot’in refer to this mountain as Dẑelh Nenalmelh - the former word means snowcapped mountain, and the latter is a compressed form of "Nen Nalmelh" meaning 'undulating land' (Advice from Tŝilhqot'in National Government, 2018).
