Origin Notes and History:

Adopted 29 June 2018 on 92B/12 as an established local name, submitted by local resident Cliff Sweeney, and supported by the Cowichan Valley Regional District, Arbutus Ridge Administrative Department, and Arbutus Ridge Golf Club.

An established local name since 1988 for the unincorporated community within Area C of the Cowichan Valley Regional District (advice from local resident, 2016, and supported by numerous references including Stats Canada, Canada Post, and the Cowichan Valley Regional District).

"There were numerous Arbutus trees on the slope and at the top of the hill overlooking the Satellite Channel...right in front of the Village Square. "Arbutus Ridge" seemed to be a natural choice to name the community". -quote provided by local resident on reason why "Arbutus Ridge" may have been originally chosen as the name for the community.
