Origin Notes and History:

Incorporated as Greater Vancouver Regional District 29 June 1967; name confirmed 4 April 1974 on MCR-5, sheet 3. Boundaries changed 10 November 1988 by OIC 2073/88; boundaries further extended per Letters Patent 3 August 1995. In 2007, GVRD Board members voted to restyle the name as "Metro Vancouver" but no incorporation papers or Letters Patent issued. Name changed to Metro Vancouver Regional District by OIC 023, 30 January 2017.
