Origin Notes and History:

Mount Tzuhalem Ecological Reserve established per Order in Council #919, 16 May 1984. Conversion of OIC to Statute designation per Bill 50:2004, Parks and Protected Areas Statutes Amendment Act, 17 May 2004; the whole containing approximately 18 hectares. [note that the spelling of the name of the underlying mountain was changed from Tzuhalem to Tzouhalem in April 2000, as requested by Cowichan Tribes ]
