Origin Notes and History:

Ayaan Chookan is the original Tlingit name for Four Mile Lake. The name means "Tall Grass Lake" The grass grows very tall in some places of the lake. This is how the lake got the name. You can also fish in the lake. This is a good lake for pike fish. (Information provided January 2013 by Teslin Tlingit Council, in turn provided in 1988 by Elder Frank Morris.)
