Origin Notes and History:

Nadáakw Shaa means "table mountain" - on top of this mountain it is all flat like a table. This is how the mountain received the name. In the winter the snow is packed so hard on that mountain that you can mush your dogs on it without any trails." (Information provided January 2013 by Teslin Tlingit Council, in turn confirmed in summer 1999 by Rosie Johnston and Matt Thom.)

Nadáakw Shaa is the original Tlingit name of the feature. (Information provided January 1988 by Teslin Band to Yukon Geographical Names Board). The new Tlingit spelling is Nadâw Shà - in Tlingit the word Nadâw is table, and Shà refers to mountain. (Information provided March 2013 by Teslin Tlingit Council).
