Origin Notes and History:

Ka:'yu:'k't'h'/Che:k:tles7et'h' First Nations proposed that Malksope River be changed to Maq:cup River, being the preferred Nuu-chah-nulth spelling of the river's name, as well as the name of the former village near its' mouth. Awaiting further interpretive information from Ka:'yu:'k't'h'/Che:k:tles7et'h' First Nations. This feature is largely within Maa-nulth Lands of the Ka:'yu:'k't'h'/Che:k:tles7et'h' First Nations.
