Origin Notes and History:

The beach is known as "Terrace Beach" situated within He-Tin-Kis (municipal) Park. The Ucluelet First Nation prefers the spelling Hitin-qis.

The name means "down the beach" - at one time there was a wet site here [an archaeological site containing remnants of weirs and accessories used for fishing.] To date, 13 burial sites have been identified here. (Ucluelet First Nation, December 2010)
