Incorporated as a District Municipality, to be known as Northern Rockies Regional Municipality, per Order in Council #33, 29 January 2009, effective 6 February 2009; the new entity encompasses the same boundary as the former Northern Rockies Regional District, with the exception of Indian Reserves, and includes the former Town of Fort Nelson.
