Pacific Rim National Park was established in 1970 by Order in Council. The French form Parc national Pacific Rim was adopted 4 June 1985 on Parks' list (on file 203-19; now SM7915-50/P11-1). Pacific Rim National Park and Parc national Pacific Rim confirmed by Parks Canada in the 31 July 1986 and 30 April 1987 Parks' Lists on file 203-19 (now SM7915-50/P11-1). Name changed to Pacific Rim National Park Reserve and Réserve de parc national Pacific Rim in the 30 June 1989 Parks' List on file 203-19. Confirmed 30 June 1995 on Parks' List. Confirmed 31 March 1997 in Terminology Bulletin 236: "Terminology Used by Parks Canada." Name expanded to Pacific Rim National Park Reserve of Canada, and Réserve de parc national du Canada Pacific Rim, 12 January 2001 on Parks' List on file SM7915-50/P11-1.
