"Carol Lake" was designated by the BC Forest Service in 1979. The namesake is Carol Harris, who worked for the Forest Service in Lillooet at the time, and whose family had long-enjoyed the area from their cabins on nearby Marshall Lake. Carol's husband David Harris had been killed in an avalanche 15 March 1979 and it is thought that her Forest Service colleague Bill Lamont named the lake as a gesture of kindness and support. The BC Forest Service subsequently established "Carol Lake Recreation Site" here, with 9 campsites, wharf and boat launch.
