Origin Notes and History:

Marron Valley (town) adopted 6 October 1936 on Geological Survey sheet 420A, not Marron Lake (settlement) as had been labelled on BC map 1EM, 1915 (Ottawa file OBF 1525). Form of name changed to Marron Valley (settlement) 7 October 1954 on 82E/SW. Form of name changed to Marron Valley (locality) 29 November 1984.

Marron Lake Post Office was opened 16 July 1909, William Smythe postmaster. Name changed to Marron Valley Post Office 1 April 1924. Post Office closed 30 November 1933. See Marron River for origin.
