Tappen Siding Post Office opened here 1 July 1892, F.McCulla, postmaster; closed 1 February 1897. Brightwater Post Office was opened in this location 1 August 1908, H.C.Banks, postmaster. Re-named Tappen Post Office 1 August 1911.
