In 1895 Walter U. Homfray built a hotel in Grande Prairie, grandly naming it the Adelphi; its empty shell still remains. He added a P.O. in 1900 with the same name, much to the disgust of earlier settlers who preferred the old designation. The matter was finally settled by the National Geographic Board (sic) in 1926, when the village was named Westwold, despite protests from old-timers. [note that the matter was settled by the Post Office Bureau, when they re-named the postal facility in 1926]
