Origin Notes and History:

Originally named "Carroll" in 1886, after a member of Major Rogers' engineering party on the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1884-86. Named Mount Macdonald by Order in Council #551, 4 April 1887, after the Rt. Hon. Sir John A. Macdonald (1815 - 1890), Canada's 1st Prime Minister, and serving his 4th term when the CPR line was completed through Rogers Pass in 1885.
