"...old Joe Bissette, after whom the creek at Pouce Coupe is named.... A fine stalwart man, he used to trade at old Fort St. John, coming in from his hunting grounds with his only companion, a beautiful collie dog, of which he was extremely fond and proud. He gave up trapping as he grew older and had charge of the government ferry over the Peace River at Fort Dunvegan, but by the time the railway came to Grand Prairie and on towards Pouce Coupe, he had crossed the Great Divide to the happy hunting grounds to which, no doubt, his dog had long since departed."
