After John Aitken, early storekeeper and postmaster at Mayne Island. Born in Lanark, Scotland 1873; came to Canada 1885 and to Mayne Island in 1906. In 1920 he purchased land in Horton Bay from George Paddon and began raising sheep. Retired in 1946, died 1959, age 86.
