"...bijoux is the French word for jewels; the water in the creek sparkles like jewels..." (Frank Clapp, Department of Highways, 1954). Note: it is not clear if Mr. Clapp named the creek, or if he was just relaying the significance of an already-established name. It is further understood that the cascade at the lower reaches of the creek (since dubbed Bijoux Falls) is the portion that sparkles.
