Origin Notes and History:

Gerrard Post Office here. Identified as Selkirk (located at the terminus of the CPR rail line running north from Lardeau, and likely referring to a railway point) on map "Index to Townships in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta & British Columbia" to accompany the annual report of the Topographical Survey Branch, 1907-08. Presumably so-named by CPR because of its' location in the Selkirk Mountains.
