Origin Notes and History:
|
British Columbia adopted Windy Pass 27 April 1979 on 82J/13, as recommended by BC Parks Branch at Wasa for the 1/4 mile-long ridgeline extending northwest from Og Mountain. Name rejected 8 June 1979 by Alberta and later by Parks Canada, because "...the generic term 'pass' for this feature is not in accordance with the usual and understood meaning of a pass; if adoption of this name could mislead persons into thinking it is a way through the mountains [this] could be a dangerous name to approve for use on maps..." British Columbia concurred and rescinded the name Windy Pass 30 August 1979 on 82J/13. British Columbia adopted Windy Ridge for the same feature 1 February 1983 on 82J/13; adopted 2 May 1985 by Parks Canada; adopted 28 July 1986 by Alberta.
