"Crazy Jane Lake is the preferred name, relating to the old legends of prospectors." (R.A. Rutherglen, 1 March 1971, file S.1.59) . "Crazy Jane, a prostitute with a good heart, lived up at Oro in Lemon Creek. She was good to miners and prospectors who were sick or down on their luck. She was also known as Lady Franklin." (information relayed August 1999 to Innes Cooper, Slocan historian, by Lin Frederick, Nelson, in turn obtained from Eric Denning, Nelson). "Crazy Jane was a prostitute in the Oro area who was fond of wandering off into the woods; one day [she] wandered off and didn't return." (as told to Shawn Lamb, Nelson Museum, by Bob Golac). "The OroFino mine was known locally as the Crazy Jane Mine... and Nilsik Creek was known locally as Crazy Jane Creek." (as told to Innes Cooper, Slocan Historian, by Gene Hird, one-time owner of the OroFino mine).
