Origin Notes and History:

Frypan Mountains adopted 1 March 1938 on Geological Survey sheet 448A, Hazelton, as identified in 1872 by CPR Engineer Horetsky and published in his 1874 report, and as labelled on BC Lands' map 5A, 1917 et seq. Since determined that these mountains form the southern end of the Bait Range. Frypan Mountains rescinded 5 July 1951 on 93 M, and Bait Range extended to include this feature. (file H.2.37)
G.M. Dawson had identified this feature as "Fire Pan Mountains", 1879.
