Origin Notes and History:

Francis Peninsula adopted in the 1930 BC Gazetteer. Name changed to Beaver Island 28 July 1945 on C.3579, as identified on British Admiralty Charts; confirmed 2 February 1949 on C. 3549 and 2 November 1950 on 92F. Name changed back to Francis Peninsula 4 April 1972 on 92F/9, to conform to entrenched local usage. It is a peninsula at low tide and an island at high tide.
