Established per Bill 53: Park Amendment Act 1995, 13 July 1995. Area confirmed per Bill 86, Park Amendment Act 1999, 28 June 1999, the whole containing 5788 hectares (1749 hectares of upland and 4039 hectares of foreshore). Boundary redescribed per Bill 50-2004: Parks and Protected Areas Statutes Amendment Act, 17 May 2004; the whole now containing approximately 5805 hectares (1543 hectares of upland and 4262 hectares of foreshore).
