Big Bell and Little Bell are visible from McBride, and their names refer to their shape. In 1988, McBride Municipal Council received a development proposal for a ski hill here, to be called "Belle". After initially supporting the commercial interest's play on the word, Council endorsed the historic spelling "Bell" in 1992. (Also Big Bell Mountain).
