Skidegate (Village) adopted 14 June 1946 on 103SE. Identified as Skidegate (Post Office & Steamer Landing) in the 1953 BC Gazetteer. Identified as Skidegate (Settlement) in the 1973 Supplement to the 1963 BC Gazetteer. Form of name changed to Skidegate (locality) 15 February 1983 on 103F/1. Name changed to Skidegate Landing (Locality) 31 March 1992 on 103F/1, being the well-established local name for the locality immediately surrounding the ferry dock. Skidegate Landing amalgamated within the incorporated municipality Village of Queen Charlotte, effective 7 December 2005.
