In the absence of any known name, "Estshi" was chosen, being the word for "nose" in the Tahltan language, and referring to the shape of the upper reaches of this creek; helicopter pilots use this distinctive 'hook-nose creek' as a visual landmark when flying down the Iskut to the coast.
