Ember Mountain adopted 2 January 1987 on 92 G/16, as submitted by G. Woodworth, Alpine Club of Canada; a well-established name in the mountaineering community.

One of the "Fire Spires" so-identified in Culbert's "A Climber's Guide to the Coastal Ranges of British Columbia, 1965, p.144-146. Each of the 5 steep rock peaks in the group were also given individual "theme" names by the 1963 climbing party (west to east: Flicker, Flash, Flames, Ember, Spark). This particular peak was first climbed in 1950.
