Origin Notes and History:

New Aiyansh (settlement) adopted 4 April 1974 on 103P/3. Subsequently the Aiyansh Post Office was moved to this location. Confirmed as New Aiyansh (Community) - Aiyansh (Post Office) 26 October 1988 on 103P/3. Dual name dismantled July 1995 by Ottawa. Aiyansh (Post Office) and New Aiyansh (community) are at the same location; BOTH to be labelled on BC maps.

Upper Nass Post Office opened 1 August 1912; renamed Aiyansh Post Office 1 January 1916. After a disastrous fire in the early 1980's, the Aiyansh Post Office, businesses and houses were re-established at the community of New Aiyansh, about 3 miles to the southwest.
